***
NIKE Becomes Chief Sponsor of SINA's Sports Channel
BEIJING & SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 6, 2002--SINA (Nasdaq:SINA), a leading Chinese media and Internet services company, announced today that it has entered into a strategic alliance for online marketing with NIKE, the world's leading designer and marketer of athletic products. Under the alliance, NIKE will become the co-brand partner of SINA's sports channel, which is ranked number one in China. SINA's sport channel will be renamed the NIKE-SINA Sports Channel. In addition to an advertising commitment, NIKE will also work with SINA, both online and offline, to co-develop and market the sports channel to sports fans in China.

SINA's sports channel has long been recognized as the leading online sports channel in China. SINA was the official site of China's Olympic team for the 2000 Sydney games. In 2002, SINA was chosen as the official site of China's World Cup team. During the Japan/Korea World Cup over 51% of SINA's online users accessed the sports channel, generating over 1.2 billion page views. Most recently, SINA was designated the official site for the Dalian Soccer Club, the leading professional soccer team in China.

NIKE is the fourth Global 500 company to choose SINA as its strategic partner for online marketing. The other global marketing partnerships include Dell China on Dell Store, Johnson & Johnson on Baby Center, and L'Oreal on Elady - SINA Women Channel. In the NIKE-SINA partnership, both companies will leverage the resources of SINA's three main business lines -- SINA.com, SINA.net and SINA Online -- to provide the most up-to-date and interactive content on sports teams, stars and competition, as well as sports gear and fashion.

A statement issued by NIKE commenting on the partnership stated, "This is our first ever strategic partnership with an Internet company. This demonstrates NIKE's belief in the rapidly growing Internet market in China. By working with SINA, the leading Internet brand in China, we aim to leverage SINA's brand, user base and experience in online marketing to increase NIKE's brand recognition in the China market."

"We are honored to be selected by NIKE as its first ever strategic partner for online marketing," said Daniel Mao, CEO of SINA. "Global companies have come to recognize that SINA is the best online marketing partner available to help them reach the exciting and rapidly growing consumer market in China. This alliance also validates SINA's leading position as a provider of sports information to China."
